A Micro Role in Making Futures

Micronomy Making Futures 3

Micronomy was honoured to be a small but impactful part of the global conversation at Making Futures® 2024an international research conference led by Arts University Plymouth.

As experts in linking industry, emergent talent and entrepreneurship, Micronomy was invited to support the conference in looking at how intersections between craft, material innovation, and sustainability were being realised by local businesses and organisations. We contributed to a conference by moderating a roundtable discussion with thought leaders and multi-sector SMEs to hear from the individuals and businesses driving forward-thinking solutions in Plymouth.

Our roundtable session, Bridging Insights: Academic-Industry Partnerships in Material Sustainability, offered a platform for local companies to engage with conference scholars, researchers and industry peers on how academia could further good environmental practices and business goals.

The roundtable brought together local leaders in architecture, fashion, community housing, and local government and was shaped by our commitment to fostering collaboration and dialogue across sectors to accelerate a deeper understanding of how creative practices can model a vision for more sustainable and equitable economic futures.

"I invited Micronomy to lead a roundtable on sustainable production and circular economic models in Plymouth because of their experience working with many local businesses and the original insights they bring to their work with progressive leaders across sectors. As skillful connectors and facilitators, it is easy to underestimate the power of the networks they build between people and ideas, which have a palpable positive impact on the quality of life and business in the city."
